Projects That You Can Do

The Buddy Project has a Backpack section on their site with loads of book, video and project ideas.  And there's a whole section about horses!  Visit http://www.buddyproject.org/backpack/resources.asp?tid=25&theme=horses and click on one of the three links (Back in the Saddle Again, Horses and Horsein' Around) in the upper right corner for detailed ideas.  This site will keep you busy for a long time.

www.johnlyons.com is the official site of John Lyons, one of the most famous horse trainers in the world.  Don’t miss the photo gallery!

horsewhisperer.com is the site of Frank Bell, another famous horse whisperer.  You'll find lots of horse training tips, natural horsemanship, stories and links to other sites on this web site.

Inspired by Horses is where you go if you need a “leg up.” It’s a faith-based place you can go to “touch bases with wise people who can do that as well as help you find your footing, so to speak. You can also get expert horse advice from our resident horse expert Maureen Gallatin.

 

Horses in General

www.pbs.org/wnet/nature/horses/ provides information about horses from the PBS Nature series, as well as games and a list of links to all kinds of web sites about horses.  You’ll find links to sites about everything from horses in history to horse rescue.

http://www.imh.org/imh/imhmain.html will take you to the International Museum of the Horse site in Lexington, Kentucky.  Want to learn more about various breeds of horses?  You’ll find lots of details and photos on this site.  The site provides lots of historical information about horses, beautiful artwork and a huge list of links, too.  

http://www.imh.org/imh/bw/home2.html is the direct link to the Horse Breeds of the World page on the IMH web site.  You can browse by breed or even by continent!  

www.horses.about.com is About.com’s equestrian resource page.  Check out their Beginner’s Guide to Horses, Calendar of Events and other features on the site.

 

Equestrian Associations

www.horse-country.com/ has TONS of different horse associations on it!  All of the different breeds have their own association and each one is listed on this...a super resource.  Currently, they have a note on their home page that they're on vacation.  We'll keep you posted!

www.uset.com is the United States Equestrian Team page.  They're the ones that show in the Olympics and other international competitions.  This page is awesome!

 

Special Equestrian Events

www.equestrian.org used to be called the American Horse Show Association.  They have listings of shows and events and what they do.

www.horsesport.org is the International Equine Federation homepage.  This site has lots of information on horse competitions with links to different countries and cities that host these huge events.
